Launching an Internet Radio for Sound Art
We live in a time where we rarely hear the same thing, we have more choices than ever before. The probability that we have heard or seen the same thing decreases year by year. We listen to less flow radio and listen to more on-demand audio and music. So why start an internet radio with sound art in 2024?
Especially in small art niches, such as sound art, there is a need for a dedicated place, a place that is accessible everywhere and that inspires and challenges the listener. A digital platform that is independent and that operates as a digital “listening room” as if it were an exhibition space. Sound art is an area that overlaps and exchanges with experimental music, anti-music, podcast and radio. Therefore, we believe that the radio format is an obvious choice. Radio is present, it does not demand that the listener chooses, makes a choice, just as one does not choose the works when visiting an art exhibition, one encounters the experience in the setting in which it was created. Perhaps the most important feature of flow radio is precisely the encounter with sound, on the sound’s premises.
